Our first Terminalserver which have been sent to Africa were installed on Edubuntu 7.04. We have never upgraded to 7.10, because we experienced a lot of problems with VGA resolution on the Thin Clients.

However we will upgrade to 8.04. There have been many changes from 7.04:

• There is no more a out of the box solution. You have to install Edubuntu workstation and add Terminalserver functions.
  

• 8.04 uses ssl encryption (since 7.10)
  

• You have to build your own client environment.

For the above mentioned reasons we decided to setup an eXE E-Learning module to provide information for administrators and second level supporters.

This lessons shows how to run the basic installation. To be able to make screenshots, Edubuntu was installed in a VMware environment. The main difference is harddrive type. Our solution takes an IDE harddrive (dev/hda), while VMware  uses a SCSI drive emulation (dev/sda).
