Responses to our latest call for donations

At the beginning of April our storeroom will be empty. Meanwhile about 400 PCs have been collected. Unfortunately there was an extreme misproportion between computers and displays. Our call that we urgently needed displays was more successful than we had expected. We have received more than 60 additional displays since then – most of them 17“and 19“. Hans-Peter took over 37 TFTs in Basel, which had been collected in Thun by Jürg and Nico.

A great many further displays were brought directly from Frankfurt to Freiburg by means of his personal van transport by our stalwart supporter Marius. With these we have been able to fill the pallets to Mozambique and Kenya with 25 – 30 PCs and displays. They will be shipped to their destination next week.

The container to Burundi is packed as well. 90 PCs and monitors will soon be on their way.

Finally there is the container to South Africa, to our partner Rommel Roberts at the Hilltop Farm. He will not only receive the rest of the PCs and displays but also a large number of motherboards, memory modules, processors etc., since he has a trained staff there who can assemble or repair computers. After our efforts to build in SDAM bars with 32 MB two years ago he will be happy about more than 200 modules up to a size of 1GB.

Shortly before the end of our collections three heavy packages arrived from Johannes, who sent us 40 wonderful Thin Clients for the x2go terminal server solutions for schools.

And today we indeed received another TFT – brought to us by bicycle! Well, such committed contributors do we have. MANY THANKS!

Whoever has further TFTs, hard drives or memory bars for us can send them to us. There is still time until March, 23rd to pack things in the container to South Africa. After that date the last container will be gone.
